The situation
Nova Sky Stories is the world’s most advanced light drone provider, built on the pioneering team and technology that helped launch the light drone industry in 2006. With a fully vertically integrated ecosystem — spanning engineering, manufacturing, proprietary flight software, and an in-house creative studio — Nova designs, builds, and operates everything exclusively for its own productions. Their Sky Stories have illuminated some of the world’s most prestigious global stages. Yet their digital presence did not reflect that stature. Tank was engaged to transform Nova’s website into a cleaner, sleeker, and more future-forward platform that reinforced its global leadership and celebrated the cinematic artistry of its work.

The Strategic Opportunity
Nova Sky Stories operates at a rare level of scale and sophistication. Their work commands global stages and cultural moments, yet their digital presence did not fully convey that authority.
The opportunity was not to redefine who they are, it was to express it with greater clarity and confidence.
The redesigned site needed to elevate perception, align with their global ambitions, and communicate leadership without over-explaining. It had to feel precise, premium, and forward-looking, a digital experience that matched the ambition and refinement of the brand itself.
In short, the goal was simple: ensure their online presence carried the same presence as their performances.
Developing the User Experience
We reimagined the user experience to support two primary audiences: premier clientele seeking extraordinary one-of-a-kind productions, and partners interested in scalable touring or ticketed experiences.
We elevated the site architecture to clarify Nova’s differentiators: proprietary technology, vertical integration, global presence, and unmatched safety record. Navigation was simplified and streamlined. Messaging was sharpened and reduced to confident, declarative statements.
The gallery became central to the experience. We implemented a hybrid categorization framework that allows projects to be filtered by both industry and experience type, transforming the portfolio into a dynamic cultural archive rather than a static list of events
Mobile responsiveness and pacing were carefully considered to ensure the cinematic quality carried across devices without sacrificing clarity or performance.
Design Exploration & Innovation Concepting
The creative brief established a tone that was visionary, elite, and refined. From that foundation, we developed multiple design exploration territories that pushed Nova beyond conventional entertainment branding and into the realm of prestige experience companies
Our concepting phase focused on three core tensions:
Art and engineering.
Precision and wonder.
Minimalism and spectacle.
We explored cinematic minimalism paired with high-contrast light play, drawing inspiration from luxury editorial photography and modern classic design systems. Typography was restrained yet authoritative. Layouts were generous, allowing imagery to breathe. Motion concepts echoed the choreography of drone formations — intentional, geometric, and precise.
This was not about decoration. It was about presence. The design innovation phase refined Nova’s digital language into something unmistakably cinematic and globally scaled.
Development & Scalable Foundation
Beyond aesthetics, the engagement focused heavily on infrastructure. Nova required a flexible, modular platform that could support international growth, multilingual expansion, SEO optimization, and future ticketed show integration
We rebuilt the site on a scalable CMS foundation designed for speed, ease of updates, and long-term flexibility. The modular system allows Nova to add new shows, evolve messaging, and expand global content without redesigning the entire platform.
Performance optimization, enhanced interactivity, and mobile-first execution ensured that the experience remained immersive while maintaining technical rigor.
