Started by Denise Korn in 2003, the program collaborates with AIGA, Mass College of Art & Design, and the Private Industry Council to partner talented students with design mentors at a wide variety of workplaces for hands-on experience.

Tank was asked to design and develop a mobile site for ServiceMaster Clean that provides customers with immediate emergency fire and water damage clean-up support – while on the go. The mobile site is compatible with the iPhone, Droid and BlackBerry platforms and carriers. Look for more work for our friends at ServiceMaster in the coming months!

Rockport makes women’s shoes? That was the challenge Rockport faced when they came to us in early 2010. Together, Rockport and Tank designed and built a website for women to socialize with the brand through commenting, rating and sharing shoes and bags from the Rockport Spring 2010 line. Launched in early May, the new site lets users log in using their Facebook ID, post shoes to their Facebook wall, and read and share style tips on “Blog That”. Think you look great in your Rockport shoes? Upload your pic at the new Rockport Women site.

Proportions, the newest brand from online canine product company SmartPak, is educating dog owners on a better way to feed and preserve their pet's health through their custom nutrition program. Answer a short series of questions about your dog at proportions.com including breed, age, weight, and activity level and the online calculator will give you the exact calorie and food make-up that is best for your pet. They'll also send you monthly shipments in meal-sized kits so your pet is getting exactly the right amount each day. Since Tank’s studio dogs have ranged at various times from high energy Pomeranians to a docile bulldog to an overweight yellow lab, the Tank design and development team had plenty of reference points to pull from while developing the brand's name, identity, packaging and website. Try it for yourself with Proportions' risk free trial going on now.

Last fall, FedEx launched the “Ground is Faster” campaign, promoting FedEx market leadership over competitor UPS in commercial ground delivery. The metrics are now in and we are happy to report that with its straightforward message and call to action, this online banner campaign, designed by Tank, saw a dramatic 200%+ increase in traffic to the FedEx Ground landing page and Service Maps application. Once at the site, visitors checked out transit times from their ZIP code with more than 90% of first-time visitors using the application. They also learned about the many benefits faster transit times provide to businesses including greater efficiency, satisfied customers, improved cash flow and more. The tool's easy-to-follow user flow allowed visitors to get rates and quickly access online shipping tools. Want to see just how fast your shipment will arrive? Check out this great tool for yourself.

All summer, thanks to intern and competitive rower Alexis Sneff, several Tankers have been mastering the art of rowing up and down the Charles River. They successfully put their skills to the test this month in a 500 meter sprint against a Boston University learn to row team. Competing this fall at the Head of the Charles Regatta is probably a long shot though—we'll leave that to Alexis. Special thanks to the Riverside Boat Club for sponsoring Tank!

This new online service is aimed at families, letting parents manage and monitor the internet usage of their children, with age-appropriate rules and tools that promote and encourage safe online behavior. Whether it’s an Acai-Blueberry cocktail or kobe beef skewers, Rande and Scott Gerber’s innovative bar, lounge & restaurant concepts keep the customers coming back. Creating a web experience that captured the excitement and smartly designed upscale interiors of Gerber Bars was at the core of Tank's design. But gerberbars.com is not just a pretty site. With beauty comes the technology of a robust content management system that enables The Gerber Group to effortlessly update fresh content to their site, keeping patrons coming back for new drink and food menus and electrifying venues, not to mention the star-studded photo gallery.

With its European café feel and international menu, it seemed only fitting that the identity for the new TORY ROW restaurant should be designed by a Brit, our own Andrew Smiles. The 242 Group, who also own Tank-branded eating establishments Cambridge.1, Audubon Circle, Miracle of Science and Middlesex Lounge, opened their latest venture this month with Tank’s logo on all materials and environments, along with a new Tank-designed and built website. If you aren’t familiar with Cambridge's Brattle Street (where TORY ROW is located), it is considered one of America’s finest streets. With its beautiful, historical mansions that housed many British loyalists before the American Revolution, Brattle Street was often known as “Tory Row”.

In just 4 short weeks, Tank was able to design, develop and launch this dynamic internet portal for recently unemployed individuals, connecting them to employment opportunities, labor market data, support resources, and career changing information. Over the past three years, our team at Tank has been helping shape the advertising and visual campaign direction for Healthworks, an upscale, multi-location all-women fitness center in and around Boston. For 2009, the brand was looking to refresh its message, a message that maintained its focus on the individual but was infused with the tribe mentality that is inherent to group fitness. The finished result is an arresting set of images portraying the one as part of the many.
Keep an eye out for the new 2009 advertising campaign which launched this January in regional print and transit placement, including MBTA buses. The visuals will be expanded across Healthworks’ ongoing communications in 2009.

The new identity was brought to life across their collateral system as well as a revamped online presence, www.beadboard.com.

So we're looking forward to working with the teams over at Symantec through 2009 on the planning, design, and development of several next generation products from this protection leader. Tank first partnered with Symantec in 2006, designing the user-interface for the award-winning Norton360 product launch. It was a lot of fun partnering with Cindy Crawford and her company, Crawdaddy Productions on the newest iteration of Cindy.com. The revamped site is all about the brand that is Cindy Crawford. While a destination for fans of Cindy and her work, full of photos and video (including those famous Pepsi ads) highlighting her long-time modeling career, Cindy made sure visitors could learn about her many other business ventures including Cindy Crawford Home, her new home-furnishings line, skincare line Meaningful Beauty, and endorsements with Omega Watches, Style with Remington and Pur (water). The new site provides a frequently updated “News” section, highlighting current coverage from Vogue and Allure, as well as upcoming speaking engagements and appearances. We've worked with the team at independent music label Redstar Entertainment for many years now and were excited to again join forces. This time around - creating the visual brand language for The Singhs and their latest album Supersaturated. Originally assembled as Dragonfly in 2001, the band reached out to Tank for a brand overhaul when the band was reborn as The Singhs.
“We had an album on our hands that was quite different musically from our past ones," said the band's founder Miki Singh. "Tank, as they have so often in the past, very successfully captured the spirit and intent of our work and gave it a breathtakingly beautiful physical existence, so rare in these days of downloads and purely digital media." The new branding is very much in line with the more pop sensibilities of this third album from The Singhs, which has rich musical textures and rock underpinnings, harkening back to the 80's music of Robert Palmer and Roxy Music. You can check them out at www.thesinghsband.com and purchase the album on iTunes.

Jack Welch has long expressed his views and opinions on a wide range of controversial issues. When he wanted to start sharing those views online, he looked to our design and development team to produce his new site welchway.com. Working closely with Jack and his wife Suzy, Tank's site design extends the Welch brand while presenting their ideas on global competition and career management, as well as most business topics in between. Oh, and Jack made sure we included Straight from the Gut for his regularly updated rant (or rave) about the latest global news.

It's always fun to evolve well-known brand identities. Not Your Average Joe's, the owner and operator of fifteen restaurant locations in Massachusetts and Virginia, enlisted the Tank team on the Joe's brand when the restaurant chain began its national expansion. The new logo system represents the upscale yet friendly dining experience that Not Your Average Joe's has been known for since 1994.
Throughout its 14 years in business, Tank has created a variety of visual systems for restaurant groups in New England including Shrine, the Asian-themed venue at the MGM Grand Foxwoods, Gaslight Brasserie and take-out franchise Green Light for The Aquitaine Group, and the 242 Group's family of restaurants - Cambridge.1, Miracle of Science, Audubon, and Middlesex. You'll find many a Tanker enjoying the fine cuisine and beverages of these establishments several nights a week.
